MDSM88 Jeanna's First Sketch!

Hi friends! Jeanna here with my very first sketch for MDS Monday! While I love the look of clean and simple pages, every once in a while I want to go "all out" Really have fun with a page and use lots of color, patterns and embellishments. So this week I encourage you to use the sketch and make it as PLAYFUL and COLORFUL as possible!

This is also our last week with our October Guest Designer Tanya Harvey... We loved working with her this month, be sure to stop by her blog and see more of her fantastic work!

Challenge Guidelines:
  • Please create a new MDS project for the current challenge.
  • Provide a link back to MDS Monday or use the Challenge Graphic above within your post.
  • Link directly to your Post for this challenge, not your entire blog. (So we can find your project)
  • You can create a Card, Scrap Page or 3-D Object with the Sketch.
  • The Challenge will end on Saturday November 1st @ 12pm EST.
  • Have fun!

Top Picks for MDSM86 & MDSM87!!

Welcome back to MDS Monday.. We've got the Top Picks for our last two challenges for you today.. Sorry about us running late with MDS86 Picks. A Big Thank you to everyone who played along.

Heidi's Picks for MDSM86

Sue Erickson ~ The Soggy Stamper
Digital birthday card with a herringbone background using Be Yourself designer series papers
I'm so glad Sue chose to give a card a try, and I love the coloring!  Perfect execution! ~ Heidi

Lauren Reeves ~ Of Creativity & Art
I love Lauren's fresh take on the challenge with the chevron pattern.  Very fun, and her color combination is perfect. ~ Heidi

Yapha's Picks for MDSM87

Diane Malcor ~ MyDiane Designs

I love the DSP that Diane used to highlight the colors of her gorgeous beach photo. It is a great picture for breaking into squares. This relaxing page takes one right back to the beach.

Sue Erickson ~ The Soggy Stamper
Sue did a great job matching the watercolor DSP she used to both the colors and theme of her picture. It made for a fun and clever scrapbook page.

Be sure to come back tomorrow for Jeanna's first sketch! It's a great one.

MDSM87 .. Yapha's first sketch!

**We are running late with our Top Picks from last week's challenge so we will be announcing them next Sunday with this week's picks. **

Hi Everyone! Yapha here with my very first sketch for MDS Monday! I am super excited! I have a couple fun tricks I used on this page, that you are welcome to try as well. The first one is to change the size of the patterns when you fill a punch with patterned paper.

Simply fill it, then double click on the shape, and you have the option to zoom in or out on the patterns by clicking the plus and minus. The second thing I did was to fill a group of photo boxes with one picture. Select the photo boxes you want to fill, group them together, then drag your photo on top. It makes for a great look! We can't wait to see how you choose to fill all of these little squares!

  • The Challenge will end on Saturday October 25th @ 12pm EST.
  • Have fun!

MDSM86... Let's try a Technique!

Hi Everyone!  It's Heidi.  I thought today we'd try a background technique that could be applied to a card or scrapbook page, the herringbone technique.  You can find a step-by-step video by Juanita Golson on mydigitalstudio.net.

A couple of hints -
  • I followed Juanita's method for one quadrant of the herringbone pattern.  I then grouped them together (without the first three main divider pieces) and copied and pasted for the other three quadrants.
  • I created the herringbone pattern on a separate page, exported as a JPEG, and then inserted into another page so that I could mat the layer neatly onto a background page base.
Here's a look at the herringbone pattern created on a separate page -

Have fun trying a new technique, and I can't wait to see what you make!

  • The Challenge will end on Saturday October 11th @ 12pm EST.
  • Have fun!

MDSM85 Make it your own!

Welcome back to MDS Monday.. It's Holly here with a fun new challenge for you. Instead of giving you a sketch to use this week you get to pick your own. We'll kinda... this week's challenge is to pick a pre-made template in MDS and then change up the elements and make it your own. You could remove an element, change the pattern papers or the sentiment etc.

Be sure to show us the original page in your post along with your version so we can see how you changed it up! My page below shows how I changed up the page layout we used for the challenge graphic this week.

  • The Challenge will end on Saturday October 11th @ 12pm EST.
  • Have fun!
We can't wait to see what you create... Check out our Design Team's projects below for some great Inspiration!
