MDSM 109 - Linear Checkerboard

Hi Everyone!  It's Heidi, and it's my turn to host this week's MDS Monday sketch.  This week I thought it would be fun to layout a mixture of photos and background papers or stamp images at a linear angle.  This is a great way to tell a pictorial story while breaking it up with patterns or solid spaces.  In the solid or pattern squares, you can add dates, details, or journaling.  Can't wait to see what you create!

Challenge Guidelines:

  • Please create a new MDS project for the current challenge.
  • Provide a link back to MDS Monday or use the challenge graphic above within your post.
  • Link directly to your post or mydigitalstudio.net sample page for this challenge, not your entire website (So we can find your project)
  • You can create a card, scrapbook page or 3-D object with the sketch.
  • The Challenge will end on Saturday April 18th @ 12pm EST.
  • Have fun!

Weekly Winners MDSM108

A big thanks to everyone who posted pages this week!  They were ALL terrific, and you did a great job adding detailed, meaningful journaling.  Once again, I feel like you're all winners, but I am forced to select a few, so here it goes:

 Here are this week's picks:

Sharon
Sharon's Inkie Fingers
Sharon told such a wonderful story about her wedding day, and I love the picture of her looking out the window at the rain.  The sepia colored photos and subtle colors of the background added to an overall elegant page.  Just lovely!

Diane
MyDiane Designs
Diane used some wonderful effects to create her aquarium page, and she also added lots of details and feeling to her journaling.  The background makes me feel like I'm looking into an aquarium!  This is just a beautiful page!

Thanks to everyone who participated!
Be sure to come back tomorrow for our new challenge!

MDSM 108 - Focus on Journaling

Hi, it's Tami with this week's challenge.  I thought we'd go vertical this week with layers.  For the boxes, you can add as little or as many photos as you want.  You could even replace that part with embellishments.

My challenge to you this week is to tell a story, to really work on your journaling.  Instead of just labeling your photos (who, what, when, where), put some feeling into it.  Add emotions, a funny story, a tender moment, something that made you laugh, a particular thought, or something unexpected.  Try to be specific and detailed so it's meaningful.  Writing is typically a struggle for most of us, but if we practice, it becomes easier and our pages become much more memorable.  Someday, when you look back, you're going to be happy you put in the effort!

  • The Challenge will end on Saturday April 11th @ 12pm EST.
  • Have fun!

Thank You so much for everyone who played along this week! You did a great job using the Freeform tool.

 Here are this week's picks:

Hayley Kew
Hayley's Paper Garden

This page really says FUN! (I bet she had fun making it too) I am drawn to the bold geometric patterns and bright colors on this page. Her fun and clever way to use the woodgrain bubble quotes with the title works so well. Great digital work, Hayley! Keep it up! ~ Cindy

Diane Malcor

Diane did a wonderful job here with using complementary colors to the photo. I love the clean and simple design feel of the page. Excellent work as always! ~ Cindy

Weekly Winners MDSM106

It was so great to see everyone's pages this week!  I know we are all a little sad about the decision to discontinue our beloved MDS and so I am extra thankful for all of you who participated this week!  As I am sure you know, we at the MDS Monday site love MDS and so we hope that you will continue to participate in the weeks to come!  Onto the weekly picks!

 Here are this week's picks:

Wendie Waldman

I just loved Wendie's tribute page and we all have to admit that we got a little emotional when we saw it.  We are always inspired by Wendie's pages and are so glad that we can offer inspiration too!  I love the stamp and pennant from the Convention Photobook download that Wendie used, as well as her use of colors.

Tanya Harvey
Tanya's Stamps & Things

Tanya turned the sketch on its side and it works just great tor these fun family photos.  Her colors choices work just great with the pictures and I love that font as well.

Diane Malcor
MyDiane Designs

Diane's page is giving me hope that spring is here.  We got some snow again yesterday in Illinois but I can see the first bits of tulips pushing up through the ground.  I love Diane's embellishments and pretty paper choices.

Thanks to everyone who participated!
Be sure to come back tomorrow for our new challenge!

MDSM 106 - Beth's Turn

Happy Monday!  This is Tami, and before we get to Beth's sketch for this week, I just wanted to say a few words about last week's announcement from Stampin' Up! to stop supporting the My Digital Studio software effective May 31, 2015.  It goes without saying that all the designers at MDS Monday are extremely sad about this decision.  We obviously love the program and adore using it.  We are still in the process of determining what we'll do with this site, including future challenges and how long we'll keep it going.  In the meantime, we are exploring options for alternative digital software, printing, and backing up MDS content, projects, and software.  We plan to share this information during upcoming weeks.  So please stay tuned, and continue to enjoy the weekly challenges for as long as we can still use MDS.

Beth has a great sketch for us this week.  It works well for any number of photos, as you can see from our examples.  We can't wait to see what you create!

  • The Challenge will end on Saturday March 28th @ 12pm EST.
  • Have fun!
